OctopusTravel signs new partnership with International Rail Australasia.

The OctopusTravel group has formed a new partnership with International Rail Australasia, enabling its 4500 Australian and New Zealand agents to book a full range of worldwide rail passes and train tickets online, with live connectivity to European railroads including Italy’s Trenitalia system.

OctopusTravel agents can now link directly to International Rail Australasia’s booking site, where their requirements are managed by global rail specialists.

Jonathan Hume, Managing Director of International Rail Australasia, said the new partnership was indicative of the growth in international rail travel.

“It also reflects the need for major travel agency groups to be supported by rail specialists who can advise them on all major global rail systems and provide a very efficient and cost effective service.”

Credit card fees are absorbed, and agents are able to add their own 100% commissionable fees to invoices. OctopusTravel agents also have access to International Rail Australasia’s powerful rail travel planning tool, found on the homepage of the website.

The Australasian agreement is part of a global agreement between Wandrian Inc, (International Rail Australasia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of International Rail Limited UK, which is in turn owned by Wandrian) and Travelport Inc, one of the world’s largest travel companies.
